Daily Itinerary:
Day 1 Fly to either Phoenix Sky Harbor or Tucson International Airport; Check-in for a three-night stay at the fine Doubletree Hotel, centrally-located in Tucson across from Reid Park “Welcome” reception and dinner at our hotel. (D)
Day 2 Guided morning Tucson city sightseeing tour Afternoon sightseeing at historic Mission San Xavier del Bac, the famed “White Dove of the Desert,” as well as splendid Rincon Mountain District of Saguaro National Park Western hayride, cowboy cookout and entertainment amid the beautiful desert setting of the Lazy K Bar Ranch. Day 3 Morning sightseeing at the extensive Pima Air and Space Museum, home to more than 250 vintage airplanes and space vehicles, plus a tour of Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, where the nation’s mind-boggling “mothball fleet” of some 4,500 military aircraft is stored; Relax this afternoon at our resort hotel, play golf across the street at the Randolph Municipal Course at Reid Park (fees/equipment not included), or come along on a shopping excursion to the picturesque arts and crafts community of Tubac (no additional charge); Dinner at the charming Old Pueblo Grill. Day 4 Morning visit to the splendid Arizona Sonora Desert Museum, home to more than 300 animal and 1,300 plant species indigenous to the Sonoran Desert; Afternoon sightseeing at impressive Casa Grande Ruins National Monument; Check-in for a three night stay at the excellent Embassy Suites Hotel-44th Street; Reception and dinner at our hotel. Day 5 Guided half-day sightseeing tour of Phoenix, Scottsdale, and the sprawling “Valley of the Sun”; Afternoon trip on the historic Apache Trail to Canyon Lake for a relaxing scenic cruise aboard Dolly’s Steamboat, or, if you wish, and during March only, attend an afternoon Cactus League spring training game featuring your favorite Major League Baseball team (no additional charge); Reception at our hotel and dinner at Café Carumba in charming downtown Scottsdale. Day 6 Full-day sightseeing featuring the Sedona Red Rocks resort area, a Sedona Trolleytour with a stop at the inspiring Chapel of the Holy Cross, Sedona’s Tlaquepaque shopping village, and a visit to picturesque Jerome; Dinner at Kid Chilleen’s BBQ Steakhouse in Black Canyon City. (B,D)
Day 7 Morning visit to a noted Phoenix museum…choose the unique Hall of Flame Museum of Firefighting, the great Heard Museum of native cultures and art, the fine Phoenix Art Museum or the Desert Botanical Garden; Early afternoon homeward-bound flight from Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport. (B)
