Daily Itinerary:
Day 1 Afternoon visit to scenic Sausalito, overlooking San Francisco Bay, as well as the fascinating Bay Model Visitor Center (when available); Check-in for a five-night stay at the charming Inn Marin in Novato; “Welcome” cookout dinner (with entertainment) prepared by Rickey’s Restaurant at our hotel. Day 2 Visit to the Sonoma Wine Country, featuring tours and tasting at the renowned Viansa and Cline Wineries in Sonoma County, and an optional visit to the Sebastiani Winery in Sonoma; Free time for browsing the shops and sights around historic Sonoma Plaza before dinner at Della Santina’s or La Casa Restaurant in Sonoma. Day 3 Half-day guided tour of the romantic “City by the Bay,” including all the famous sights and sounds for which San Francisco is world-famous; Free time for lunch and exploring on your own along the waterfront at Pier 39, Fisherman’s Wharf and San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park; Refreshing afternoon San Francisco Bay cruise past Alcatraz Island and the Golden Gate Bridge; Evening in Chinatown, including Chinese banquet dinner at the Cathay House and time for browsing through the colorful shops. Day 4 Morning sightseeing at magnificent Armstrong Redwoods State Reserve; Scenic drive along the breathtaking Sonoma and Mendocino Coast, including Point Arena, Little River, Fort Bragg and the beautiful Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens; Dinner at La Hacienda Restaurant in Cloverdale on the return to Novato. Day 5 Walking tour through the splendid Victorian downtown area of Petaluma; Visit to the Charles M. Schulz Museum in Santa Rosa, commemorating the life and work of the “Peanuts” gang creator; Tour of the fascinating Luther Burbank Home and Museum in Santa Rosa; “Farewell” dinner at the Sassafras Restaurant in Santa Rosa. Day 6 Morning visit to the unique Guide Dogs for the Blind Headquarters in San Rafael; Early afternoon homeward-bound flight from either the San Francisco or Oakland Airport. (CB)
